About the event

Have you ever thought of yourself as an equity builder?

Trainers, coaches and educators share valuable knowledge and insights with their trainees, motivating them to improve their performance, careers and, ultimately, their standard of living.

However,  imparting that wisdom has specific challenges, especially regarding trainee illiteracy.  Unfortunately, illiteracy is not as isolated as you may think.   According to the Conference Board of Canada, 48% of Canadians have inadequate literacy skills.  They could be your co-workers, clients, staff and customers.

So what can you do as a trainer to ensure that your educational efforts make the maximum impact?

You can learn new skills, familiarize yourself with a few tools, and anticipate that your trainee may require accommodations.  This presentation will get you there!

Drawing on her experiences as a trainer, coach, English as a Foreign Language teacher and a newly certified Mediator,  Evelina will share stories of situations she encountered along with strategies and tools to overcome comprehension difficulties.

This presentation's content will apply to designing and delivering training to native English speakers with low literacy and those with English as a second language barrier.

• Tips for making your speaking clearer ( in voice quality and word choices)

• Considerations for culturally sensitive design and delivery

• Strategies for maximizing  verbal and written  comprehension

• Tools for making your written materials easier to understand

PLEASE NOTE:  This training will be in a presentation format with time at the end for questions.  Notes will be provided.
